Melissa Ludwig
Melissa Ludwig (Youth, Ballet teacher and Associate Academy Director) received her training at the School of the Grand Rapids Ballet Company and joined the Grand Rapids Ballet Company as an apprentice her senior year of high school. During that year she was honored to have a featured role in Gordon Peirce Schmidt's "Cinderella" created on her. She then joined Milwaukee Ballet II in 2002 and was promoted to the main company in 2003. In 2004 Ms. Ludwig came to Austin to join Ballet Austin II and was promoted to the main company is 2006. She danced with Ballet Austin until 2008 and during that time she enjoyed performing featured roles in Stephen Mill's "Touch" and "Nutcracker". She also had the opportunity to have works by Thaddeus Davis, Gina Patterson, Reginald Harris, and Sidra Bell choreographed on her. During her career, Ms. Ludwig has also enjoyed teaching ballet lessons for Ballet Austin and Metamorphosis Dance Academy as well as teaching on her own. This past year, Ms. Ludwig had the opportunity to assist in "Nutcracker" rehearsals and perform as the Sugar Plum Fairy with TexArts. Ms. Ludwig is excited to join the TexArts team!
